In December 2018, conservationists Kristine and Douglas Tompkins pioneered the creation of the 750,000-acre Patagonia National Park. Today, this biodiverse park on the legendary Carretera Austral in the Chacabuco Valley boasts rushing rivers, wide-open steppes and wildlife, including the endangered huemul deer. Named the 2025 World’s Leading Lodge by the World Travel Awards, Explora’s 13-room haven is the only accommodation within its boundaries. Open from September to April, all-inclusive stays here reveal modern, sustainable Chilean design, a spa and outdoor hot tubs, and a front yard known for its prime wildlife viewing.
