Milanese architect Matteo Thun is behind this 28-suite lakeside luxury hotel, which opened in February 2025. It's set along the calm shores of Lake Chiemsee, at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps in Übersee, Germany. Natural materials and converted wooden barns are integral to the design, but this is no cookie-cutter cabin stay. Spacious, light-filled rooms look out on the lake, grounded by oak flooring, local stone, and contemporary art; the cumulative effect is masculine and woodsy, but never heavy-handed. A sushi bar with a local fish-based menu rounds out the unexpected touches.
