A former Dominican monastery, the hotel's 36 rooms and suites reflect the space's history as a place of contemplation (most are former friar cells and feature restored vaults and frescoes, as well as views of the Val di Chiana below). Centuries earlier, the site was home to a large cistern called the Bagno di Bacco ("Bacchus' Bath") which is still used as the basis of the modern spa today.
