The Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa, also known as "Hotel Fetzer" or "Zähringerhof" in the 19th century, received its present name in 1859 from Daniel Vogel. In 1911 the then Hotel Schweizerhof was demolished and ceremonially opened on 1 July 1913. In 1939 Jack Gauer took over the management of the prestigious hotel.
